The bitterly cold weather combined with a work site on the north facing slopes of Coaley Woods encouraged the ten volunteers to work very hard in order to keep warm for our first task of 2005 with the Cotswold Way National Trail works manager, Peter.

Prior to our arrival he had arranged for materials to be delivered to the somewhat inaccessible section of narrow path where we spent the day doing revetment work and path widening. This considerably enhanced the condition of the path and helped to bring it up to National Trail standard.

Several walkers passed us during the day and it would appear our efforts were much appreciated by these users.

The landscape looked very pretty covered with several inches of snow and we were fortunate not to have difficulties in reaching the meeting place near Coaley Peak. However during the day as the sun reached the upper canopy the snow melted and most of us became quite wet with the constant drips. Nevertheless looking back over the long stretches completed all agreed that the days' work had been very worthwhile.
