The eight volunteers who arrived at Coaley Woods today were relieved to find the weather conditions less harsh than our previous visit when snow had almost prevented us from starting work at all.

We were continuing the revetment work begun in January on a long stretch of the Cotswold Way that contours through Coaley Woods. It was not possible to take a vehicle near the work site due to the steep woodland and narrow path, so all 32 planks and 96 wooden stakes had to be carried from the trailer. They were heavy and some members spent all morning ferrying the materials, this was a round trip of 15 minutes, whilst others began work on improving the path. So in addition to some hefty manual work quite a few miles were walked by the group.

During the day many people participating in a sponsored walk passed by and showed great appreciation and enthusiasm for the work in progress. It was hard work but by the end of the day all the materials were in situ and 25 of the planks had been installed. A great team effort and thanks to everyone who helped.
