A good turn out is normally assured for the pre-Christmas task at Crickley Hill and today was no exception. Fourteen volunteers were willing to abandon their festive preparations to spend a day in the countryside.
Julian, the warden explained that the task was a continuation of one started several years ago, to coppice and clear the area of scrub. Hopefully, by the end of the day the corner of the site would be reached.
Despite the cold damp weather everyone worked hard, the bonfire provided warmth during our coffee/tea breaks and fuel to bake our lunchtime potatoes which Claire had prepared in advance.
The day provided an opportunity for new members to be welcomed and for those who are not able to regularly attend tasks to catch up with the news.
