Rob's Newsletter – June 2008

Welcome to the summer addition of the GVCV task programme.  A varied and interesting programme awaits us over the coming months with a healthy mix of established and new sites, including Chedworth Roman Villa.

At the recent planning meeting a number of socials were arranged including an evening walk and a meal at a country pub in addition to the summer barbeque at Richard’s house.  See the Social Programme for more details

We are always on the lookout for more volunteers to get involved with the running of the group.  In particular we need someone to redesign and update the website.  The website has proved invaluable over the years in attracting new volunteers and keeping people updated.  So if anyone would like to develop his or her IT skills please make yourself known (See below).  Also, there is scope for someone to act as secretary.  This wouldn’t be particularly onerous but would involve co-ordinating socials, taking brief notes at meetings etc.  The role would be very much what you make of it.   And of course if anyone would like to help out leading tasks then all offers are gratefully received!

The turn out on tasks has remained high over the last few months, which is very encouraging.  Special thanks must go to all those who have led these projects and who have volunteered for the ones set out in this programme.

Just a reminder, that if anyone gives lifts to volunteers to a task, they can claim 20p a mile for petrol from the pick up point.   Please contact me for payment.

Here’s hoping for a better summer than last year!

Rob

UPDATE – July 2008
A volunteer has now stepped forward to help redesign the website and to maintain it in future. The redesign is likely to involve new content which will take time to write and agree, so please bear with us whilst this is done.
