Ruskin Mill is situated in a delightful wooded valley between Nailsworth and Horsley. Here you will find the College which caters for 90 students, aged 16 - 24 years with special learning needs, together with a fishery and farmland.

This task had a slightly different format to usual. Twelve members of GVCV joined with about 35 volunteers, staff and friends of Ruskin Mill for a full day of weeding, planting and fencing. Lunch was provided, after which the fishery manager took us on a conducted tour of the fishery. Having originally been established in 1864, this is the oldest trout farm in Europe. It is currently being redeveloped and reorganised to ensure efficient organic production of trout to supply the college kitchen. The mill pond supplies 35 litres of fresh spring water per second and the entire fishery operates using alternative energy supplies. Most work on the fishery is carried out by students.
