GVCV has been carrying out conservation work in Gloucestershire for the
past 20 years.
About twice a month, on Sundays, we pick up in Cheltenham and Gloucester and spend the day working on one of the projects below.
Dry
stone walling
Tree planting
Fencing
Hedgelaying
Footpath
maintenance
Stile
building
Woodland
management
Scrub
clearance
Occasionally there are working weekends away and, if there is sufficient demand, conservation holidays in Jersey or Normandy can be arranged.
It's not all work though, we meet socially for pub nights, meals out, wine tasting evenings, ten pin bowling etc.
The group is always looking for more volunteers, so why not join us? You
don't need any experience as full instructions are given and we always begin
with a short safety briefing on the use of tools and equipment.
A day’s work in the beautiful Gloucestershire countryside is very satisfying and you'd be learning country crafts and helping to conserve the natural environment. Browse through the task reports, see the sorts of things we do and consider becoming one of the Gloucester Vale Conservation Volunteers.
The latest Gloucester Vale Conservation Volunteers’ News can be found in the News section and a helpful Task Leader's Checklist is now available.
See the current task programme and for more information contact Lorna on 01242 227336 or email info@gvcv.org.uk
Take a look too at the social programme and arrange to join us for a relaxing evening out.
GVCV is affiliated to the BTCV (British Trust for Conservation Volunteers)
