GVCV has been carrying out conservation work in Gloucestershire for 30 years. About twice a month, on Sundays, we do tasks including:

  • Woodland management – such as Coppicing
  • Scrub clearance and other grassland management

  • Tree planting

  • Fencing
  • Hedge-laying

  • Footpath maintenance
  • Pond and other wetland habitat management

The group is always looking for more volunteers, so why not join us? You don’t need any experience as full instruction is given and we always begin with a short safety briefing on the use of tools and equipment. A day’s work in the beautiful Gloucestershire countryside is very satisfying and you’d be learning country crafts and helping to conserve the natural environment. Volunteering is free and there is no membership fee.

It’s not all work though, we meet socially for pub nights, meals out including our annual Christmas meal. Also we often organise wildlife walks throughout the year.

GVCV is affiliated to TCV (The Conservation Volunteers).
